[mod.L. ectropium, Gr. ἐκτρόπιον, f. ἐκ out + τρέπειν to turn.]
‘An outward bending; especially applied to the condition in which the eyelid folds on itself, so that the conjunctival surface becomes external; eversion of the eyelid’ (Syd. Soc. Lex.).

Eye 697 Ectropium is common in the under, and very uncommon in the upper eyelid. 1878T. Bryant Pract. Surg. I. 345 Ectropion signifies an everted condition of the lid. |
