ecize, v. intr. Ecology.|ˈiːsaɪz| [f. Gr. οἰκίζειν to colonize; cf. ecesis.] Of plants: to become established in a new habitat; to colonize (sense 3).
1916F. E. Clements Plant Succession iv. 69 Ecesis..has proved so definite and convenient in use that it seems desirable to employ a corresponding verb, ecize, from οἰκίζω, to make a home, colonize.
