A male performer or speaker making his first appearance before the public. So débutante |-tɑ̃t| [F. fem. of the same], a female appearing for the first time before the public or in society; also, a young woman who has recently ‘come out’ (see come v. 67 o); also transf. and attrib.; see also deb.
