dupatta, n. S. Asian. Brit. |dʊˈpʌtə|, U.S. |dʊˈpədə| Forms: 16 dubeties[plural], 18 deputtah, 18 doputta, 19– dopatta, 19– dupattá, 19– dupatta [‹ Hindi dupaṭṭā, lit. ‘consisting of two strips’ > n.).] A doubled or two-layered length of cloth worn by women as a scarf, veil, or shoulder wrap.
