▪ I. ‖ duiker1, duyker|ˈdaɪkə(r)| [Du. duiker (ˈdœykər):—MDu. dûker = Ger. taucher ducker or diver: see ducker1.] In full, duikerbok: A small South African antelope, Cephalopus mergens; so called from its habit of plunging through the bushes when pursued.
