acrostichoid, a. Bot.|əˈkrɒstɪkɔɪd| [f. acrostich + -oid.] Resembling the commencement of lines of poetry; an epithet of the genus of ferns Acrostichum, family Polypodiaceae, so called from the peculiar distribution of the sori on the back of the fronds.
