acrosome Zool.|ˈækrəsəʊm| [ad. G. akrosoma (M. von Lenhossék 1898, in Archiv. Mikrosk. Anat. LI. 282), f. acro- + -some (cf. Gr. σῶµα body).] A cap-like structure forming the anterior part of the head of a spermatozoon. Hence acroˈsomal, acroˈsomic adjs.
