[f. dioxy-, diox- + -an, -ane.] Any of three liquids, C4H8O2, with a molecular structure consisting of a saturated ring of four carbon and two oxygen atoms; spec. 1, 4-dioxan, used in large quantities as a solvent. Also, any of the derivatives of these compounds.
