† ˈstrother north. Obs. Also 5 strothre, stroudyr, strowder, strwder, struther, struder, -ire, 5–6 struthir. [App. related to OE. stród marsh: cf. the place-name Strood.] A marsh. The Peebles Charters (ed. 1872) 1457–1569 frequently mention a piece of land called ‘The common strother’.
