dicoumarin Chem.|daɪˈkuːmərɪn| [ad. G. dicumarin (R. Fittig 1885, in Ber. d. Deut. Chem. Ges. XVIII. 2525), f. di-2 + coumarin.] Orig., any compound with a structure based on two coumarin molecules joined together; now spec. the compound 3,3′-methylenebis-(4-hydroxycoumarin), C19H12 O6, a white powder first isolated from spoiled sweet clover as the cause of hæmorrhage in sweet clover poisoning of cattle and later prepared synthetically and used as an anti-coagulant.
