ramonda|rəˈmɒndə| Also ra(y)mondia. [mod.L. (A. Richard in C. H. Persoon Synopsis Plantarum (1805) I. 216), f. the name of L. F. Ramond (d. 1827), French botanist and traveller + -a or -ia1.] A small perennial herb of the genus so called, belonging to the family Gesneriaceæ, native to mountainous regions of Europe, and having hairy leaves in a basal rosette and single stems of white, pink, or violet flowers.
