Steinmann Surg.|ˈʃtaɪnmən| The name of Fritz Steinmann (1872–1932), Swiss surgeon, who described the device in 1907 (Zentralbl. Chir. XXXIV. 939), used in the possessive and attrib. to designate a surgical pin that may be passed through one end of a major bone for traction or setting.
