- (2) names of fossil organisms, eg ammonite
- (3) names of minerals, eg calcite
- (4) names of salts of acids with sfx -ous, eg sulphite salt of sulphurous acid
- (5) names of bodily parts, eg somite. The nouns may be used also as adjectives
