ˈpres•ent ˈper•fect, adj. 
  1. of, relating to, or being a verb tense formed by have or has followed by the past participle (or -ed/-en) form of a verb. It is used to indicate:
    • that the action of the verb started in the past and is continuing in the present, and that its effects are still felt or experienced up to the present:I've lived here for six months (= I moved here six months ago and still live here).
    • that the action or event was completely finished in the past, but the effects are still important in the present:I've spoken to the principal about that student (=and here's what we will do about him or her).
