: a rare bluish white usually trivalent metallic element that is hard and brittle at low temperatures but melts just above room temperature and expands on freezing and that is obtained usually as a by-product in the extraction of aluminum from bauxite or of zinc from zinc ores — symbol Ga; see element table |
