Chris Mannion, a volunteer at the Imperial War Museum North, discovered his grandfather was part of the small unit which captured Heinrich Himmler.

Heinrich Himmler, in a strategically vague message, responded by ordering camp commandants not to allow prisoners to fall into enemy hands.

The auction house also lists letters and notes by SS chiefs Heinrich Himmler and Reinhard Heydrich, the chief masterminds architects of the Holocaust.
