As a young woman, Mrs. Lewis studied with Alicia Markova, Charles Weidman and other leading figures in the dance world.

"We used animation to present it in a form familiar to them," said Markova, "so the story becomes lively for them."

Markova, who works within the Boston University Department of Dermatology, has studied the UV rays put off by nail salon lamps.
