ARM acquired Apical Ltd., a U.K.-based company that develops camera technology that lets electronic devices learn from their environments.

ARM said Apical's imaging products are used in more than 1.5 billion smartphones and approximately 300 million other consumer and industrial devices.

They found that the comb jellies had eight rigid plates surrounding their apical sensory organ, which they used as a gravitational receptor.
