C. montanum produces its lilac-purple or whitish flowers in February and March.

Along the banks of the stream tall lilac-purple, stock-like flowers rise proudly above the grasses.

This, which has lilac-purple flowers, produced in early spring, is not a very desirable species, being rather straggling of growth and with few flowers.
