Friends need to spend some time and write something personal, said study co-author Robert Kraut.

“I think part of what you’re talking about is simply a difference in rhetorical style,” Kraut said.

“The only finding that will replicate 100 percent of the time,” Kraut noted, “is one that is likely to be trite and boring.”
