Ken Russell

- (1927-2011) an English film director. He began his career producing films for television about the lives of poets and composers, but was best known for his cinema films. These included Women in Love (1969), The Music Lovers (1971), Mahler (1974) and Tommy (1975). He also made a television version of Lady Chatterley's Lover (1993). Some people criticized his films for including too much sex and violence, but others admired his lively and imaginative style.
