- a US company that prepares students for examinations which they need to pass in order to enter American colleges or universities. These include the SAT and GRE. The company also runs English Language courses and other general and professional educational courses. There are Kaplan Educational Centers in the US and various other countries. Stanley Kaplan, a teacher from Brooklyn, began the first one in the 1930s.
