- a very successful American television series shown on ABC and in Britain on ITV about the lives of four women in a road in the suburbs called Wisteria Lane. A fifth woman, a friend of the other four, has just killed herself when the series begins and her voice is heard commenting on the events in the road after her death. The series won two Golden Globe Awards in 2005.
