- a musical play (1943) by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein. It ran for 2 212 performances on Broadway and was one of the first modern musical plays to combine a strong story with songs. It is about the love between the cowboy Curly and the farmer's daughter Laurey. The songs included Oklahoma!, which is now the official state song of Oklahoma state, and Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'. A film version appeared in 1955.
