- (c. 1355-c. 1417) a Welsh military and political leader who led the Welsh forces resisting the English king Henry IV in Wales. He had his own parliament in 1404 and was the last Welsh person to have the title of Prince of Wales. He was defeated in battle by the son of Henry IV, who also claimed the title of Prince of Wales, but he was never captured. Many people know of him as a character in Shakespeare's play Henry IV.
