- the eleven members of the House of Lords in Britain who, until 2009, together with the Lord Chancellor, acted as the highest Court of Appeal in England and Wales. Law Lords had all been senior judges or were former Lord Chancellors. In 2009 the Law Lords' role was taken over by the judges of the new Supreme Court.
