(also also formal the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts)
- a US national cultural centre in Washington, DC, on the Potomac River near the Lincoln Memorial. It was opened in 1971 as a 'living memorial' to President Kennedy. The main theatres are the Concert Hall, the Opera House and the Eisenhower Theater. Since 1978, Kennedy Center Honors have been awarded for special artistic achievements.
