Harold Lloyd

- (1893-1971) a US comic actor in over 500 silent films. His typical character was shy and wore glasses, and often got into dangerous situations. The best known of these was a scene in Safety Last (1923), in which Lloyd hangs by his hands from a large clock on the outside of a tall building. His other films included The Freshman (1925) and The Kid Brother (1927). He received a special Oscar in 1952.
