Marylebone Cricket Club
/ˌmærələbən ˈkrɪkɪt klʌb/
/ˌmærələbəʊn ˈkrɪkɪt klʌb/
(abbreviation the MCC)
- a cricket club, established in 1787, which used to be the main organization for all cricket in England and Wales. It owns and has its main offices at Lord's in north London. The MCC is still responsible for the rules of cricket, wherever it is played. Many people consider the club and its members to be rather old-fashioned. A limited number of people can become members and there is a long list of people waiting to join. Women members have only been allowed since 1998.
