Frederick Ashton

- (1904-88) a British ballet dancer and choreographer (= person who designs steps and movements for dances). He was the first choreographer of the Royal Ballet, and later its director (1963-70). His best-known ballets are Façade, La Fille Mal Gardée and A Month in the Country. He was made a knight in 1962.
