the name given to three young men who in 1987 were sent to prison for life for having taken part in the murder of a policeman during violent events on the Broadwater Farm housing estate in Tottenham, north London. After a campaign of protest, they were officially declared innocent of the crime in 1991, when it was shown that some of the police evidence against them had been false.
