- the narrow passage of water between Alaska and Russia. It connects the Bering Sea, the most northern part of the Pacific Ocean, with the Arctic Ocean. The Bering Strait and the Bering Sea are named after the Danish explorer Vitus Jonassen Bering (1681-1741)
