Elizabeth Taylor

- (1932-2011) a US actor, born in England. She began her career as a child star in films that included National Velvet (1944). Two of her eight marriages were to Richard Burton, and their films together included Cleopatra and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, for which she received an Oscar. They also acted together in the Broadway play The Little Foxes (1981). Taylor's other films include Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958) and Butterfield 8 (1960), for which she won another Oscar. She was made a dame in 2000.
