The Rocky Horror Picture Show
/ðə ˌrɒki ˌhɒrə ˈpɪktʃə ʃəʊ/
/ðə ˌrɑːki ˌhɔːrər ˈpɪktʃər ʃəʊ/
- a US comedy musical film (1975) based on a play by Richard O'Brien first performed at the Royal Court Theatre in 1973. It makes fun of Hollywood musicals, horror films and sex. The story is about a nice couple who visit a castle in Ohio and meet Transylvanians who dress and act in a strange way. It has become a cult film (= one that is fashionable among a particular group). People who go to the film often dress as the characters and say or sing the actors' lines.
