A rare mineral of the orthorhombic crystal system which consists of a hydrated tellurate and sulphate of ferric iron, Fe2(TeO3)2(SO4)·3H2O, and occurs chiefly as thin, yellow crusts.
Origin
1960s. From the name of Frederick H. Pough, U.S. mineralogist, who (with C. Frondel) described the mineral in 1944 (Amer. Mineralogist 29 211) + -ite.
