Origin
Late 17th century; earliest use found in Blankaart's Physical Dictionary. From post-classical Latin polysarcia from ancient Greek πολυσαρκία fleshiness, plumpness from πολύσαρκος very fleshy (from πολυ- + σαρκ-, σάρξ flesh: see sarco-) + -ία.
