1(In a ventilation, heating, etc., system) an enclosed space into which the outside air is forced (after any conditioning) and from which ducts lead to outlets inside the building.
2Any analogous enclosed space in which a higher pressure is maintained by the forcing in of air, as in some air-cooled engines, ramjets, hovercraft, etc.
