Each of a number of strips forming a framework for enclosing a pane of glass, especially in a leaded window.Lead was used to make window cames for holding stained glass in windows, and can be found particularly at cathedral sites....
While putty was once necessary to stabilize the glass in the grooves of the lead cames, glass is held in the modern copper cames with adhesive.
These cames are soldered to one another so that the panel is secure.
