释义 | Jay, John/jā / (1745–1829) US chief justice 1789–95. With James Madison and Alexander Hamilton, he was the author of the Federalist 1787–88. He served as the first chief justice of the US and was responsible for Jay’s Treaty (1794–95), which settled outstanding disputes with Britain. |
