Expressing an attitude of optimistic acceptance or fatalistic resignation, especially in acknowledging that the outcome of an uncertain or difficult situation is beyond one's control or is preordained; ‘que sera sera’. Hence also as noun: an approach to life characterized by this attitude.
Origin
1920s; earliest use found in Philippine Herald. From Tagalog bahala na, interjection, short for bahala na ang Diyos God will take care of it (or similar phrases with other agents) from bahala responsibility, care, caution + na, connective + ang the + Diyos God.
