The interrelationship or interpenetration of the Persons of the Trinity; the manner in which the three Persons are regarded as conjoined or interlinked without each one's distinct identity being lost.
Origin
Early 19th century; earliest use found in Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772–1834), poet, critic, and philosopher. From ancient Greek περιχώρησις going round, rotation, in Byzantine Greek also interpenetration of the Trinity from περιχωρεῖν to go round, rotate (from περι- + χωρεῖν to go: see -chore) + -σις.
