Attributive, in the genitive, and with of. Designating a spindle-shaped sensory nerve ending found in the dermis, now thought to be a type of mechanoreceptor which responds to stretching.
Origin
Late 19th century. From the name of Angelo Ruffini, Italian anatomist, who described the structure in several papers published between 1893 and 1897.
