water bar

1 Building. A bar or strip inserted lengthwise inside the sill of an external door or window to prevent water getting in.
2 Papermaking. Each of a pair of additional wires in a mould, between the outer chain wire and the edge; an impression in paper of a line produced by such a wire.
3 Engineering. A tubular bar in a fire grate or boiler through which water is passed to be heated.
4 US. A low ridge made slantwise across a sloping road or track to divert surface water to one side.
