A measure of land in Orkney, Shetland, Caithness, and western Scotland, consisting of eighteen or twenty pennylands, on which a feu duty of one ounce of silver or one eighth of a mark was paid to the overlord.

Early 19th century; earliest use found in George Barry (1748–1805), topographical writer. From ounce + land, after uris-land.
