Rondinella

A variety of red grape grown in the Veneto region of north-eastern Italy, typically used in making Valpolicella and other blended wines.
Origin
1970s; earliest use found in Discovering Italian Wines. From Italian Rondinella, perhaps an extended use of rondinella (poetical) swallow, the variety being so called on account of the dark colour of its grapes, resembling that of the plumage of a swallow.
