Originally (in the Ottoman Empire (especially among Greek-speakers)): an Albanian (now historical ). Subsequently: specifically a member or descendant of an Albanian-speaking people inhabiting parts of Greece, descended from emigrants from Albania in the Middle Ages. Also occasionally: the Albanian dialect of this people; = Arvanitika.
