A genus of the family Gesneriaceae comprising three species of perennial herbaceous plants found in mountainous regions of Europe, having a basal rosette of hairy leaves and lilac or violet flowers. Also (in form ramonda): a plant of this genus (also with distinguishing word).

Early 19th century; earliest use found in John Loudon (1783–1843), landscape gardener and horticultural writer. From scientific Latin Ramonda from the name of Louis François Élisabeth Ramond, Baron Carbonièrres, French botanist and traveller + scientific Latin -a.
