Any of several trees of the genus Eucalyptus (family Myrtaceae) of south-western Australia, especially the rough-barked trees E. longicornis, which has a durable reddish wood, and E. melanoxylon, which has a very hard blackish wood.
Origin
Mid 19th century. From Nyungar (Perth–Albany region) murril (recorded in word lists as morrail, morryl, morl: see note below).
