A genus of the family Hyacinthaceae (or Liliaceae), comprising a single variable species, Puschkinia scilloides, which is a small spring-flowering bulb of Asia Minor and the Caucasus having distinctive pale blue or white flowers striped with dark blue; (also puschkinia) the striped squill, a cultivated variety of this often grown for ornament.

Early 19th century; earliest use found in Curtis's Botanical Magazine. From scientific Latin Puschkinia from the name of Count Apollos Apollosovič Musin-Puškin, Russian chemist, mineralogist, and plant collector (also transliterated Puschkin, Pushkin) + scientific Latin -ia.
