Of an intermediate size, large enough for examination with the naked eye but small enough that the whole can be examined as a single entity. 3 Physics. Of or relating to a size intermediate between macroscopic and atomic (typically between 10−6 m and 10−8 m). Hence: influenced by or exhibiting both quantum and macroscopic phenomena.
